All Island Art Show

The All Island Art Show is a longstanding tradition on Martha’s Vineyard with its beginnings in 1956. Artist’s from all over the island display their creative works around the Tabernacle. For the artist the Show offers a venue for all Island artists, both professional and amateur, to exhibit and sell their work at a nominal cost to the artist; there are also many awards presented including the coveted “Best in Show” award. For the hundreds of visitors the Show provides a festive atmosphere with an opportunity to purchase fine art and meet the Island artists.

Fair Poster Contest

Every year, we ask members of our community to submit their own art for our poster—18-by-24-inch depictions of the heart of the Agricultural Fair. It’s one of our favorite traditions!

Martha’s Vineyard Drawing Prize

Martha’s Vineyard Drawing Prize is an international competition established to encourage the pursuit of excellence in drawing. The theme this year is ‘Passage’, and for more information about the competition, please visit the website mvdrawingprize.com or go directly to artcall.org to enter (links below).

Here are the basics:

Enter up to 3 drawings for the $15 entry fee.

The theme is ‘Passage’.

Prizes: 1st place: $500, 2nd place: $400, 3rd place: $300, and other prizes TBA

MA Seal, Flag, and Motto Advisory Commission Calls for Public Submissions to Reimagine State Emblems

The Advisory Commission is seeking potential design elements that might include nature-based symbols native to Massachusetts, such as the right whale, a critically endangered species for which Bay State waters serve as a vital habitat, the eastern white pine or elm tree, and cranberries. Other potential design elements may include the geographic shape of Massachusetts and coastline imagery that reflects the state’s historical connection to the Atlantic Ocean and maritime industries. These examples are not intended to limit potential submissions. The Commission encourages and welcomes a broad range of designs that capture the full creativity of our citizens.

Photography Contest

The submission and voting period is now open for Martha’s Vineyard Magazine’s seventeenth annual Photography Contest!

Photograph submissions are organized into five categories: Beach + Lighthouse; Wildlife + Nature; Sunrise + Sunset; People + Pets; and Everything Else. Photos must be taken within the last year.

Winners will be announced in the Winter-Spring 2025-2026 magazine.
