Our Vision for the Future
- Broaden Our Reach – Expand to include all art forms not currently covered, such as performing arts, culinary arts, and more.
- Tailored In-Person & Online Seminars – Offer workshops based on artists’ needs, including:
- How to register your business
- Setting up Square/credit card processing and accepting payments
- Writing press releases and submitting to local publications
- Crafting an artist statement and bio
- Applying to library exhibitions (with panels of library representatives)
- Applying to galleries (with panels of gallery reps)
- Navigating art shows and markets (with panels of show directors)
- Q&A sessions with established local artists
- Social media marketing for artists (hands-on app tutorials)
- Managing business records and preparing for tax season
- Collaborations – Partner with organizations that share our mission of supporting island artists.
- Childcare Support – Secure funding for childcare during shows and markets, with certified childcare available on-site.
- Artist Swap Meets – Facilitate events for artists to buy, sell, and trade supplies, equipment, and show materials.
- Scholarships – Develop need-based scholarships to support continuing education in the arts and business.

Who We Are
At the moment, “we” is a bit of a wish—because for now, it’s just me. My name is Saundra LaBell, and I am the founder of ART MV. After years of navigating the challenges of breaking into Martha’s Vineyard’s fine art scene, I decided to create the connection I wished I’d had from the beginning.So, what does ART MV offer? Think of it as a centralized, interactive directory—your go-to place for finding island art shows, craft fairs, galleries, art services, classes, and more.
A little about me: I’m not exactly tech-savvy, so please bear with me as I work through any hiccups while getting the website and newsletter up and running.
When I’m not focused on ART MV, I’m a full-time artist working in acrylic painting and fabric art, and a full-time mom to two little girls, ages 9 and 6. It’s a busy life, but one I’m deeply passionate about, and I’m excited to have you join me on this adventure.

ART MV ensures that artists have access to every opportunity available on Martha’s Vineyard. We’ve connected with all the key artistic organizations on the island and gathered all the essential information artists need in one easy-to-read, user-friendly format. No more wasting precious creative time searching for applications! Artists can quickly find the latest details on art shows, sales, contests, classes, and more.
Our goal at ART MV is to provide a comprehensive list of opportunities for artists, completely free of charge. In addition, we offer paid featured listings for upcoming shows, galleries, and service providers. Paid listings give you the chance to promote events at the top of the page and in our newsletter for one month, ensuring that artists stay informed about timely events. This paid option helps us offset the costs of maintaining the site, while allowing us to continue offering ART MV as a free resource for the island’s artistic community.
